Meet our teachers
Several years ago, when a teacher stopped being a requirement in a Children’s centre nursery, Leeds City council decided to continue to commit resources to provide excellence in teaching and learning across Little Owls Nurseries
The qualified teacher team work flexibly to support quality of teaching and learning across the city. Their role includes training, role modelling, mentoring, support and guidance and each nursery works closely with their link teacher to develop and sustain good practice.
Across the teacher team there is a range of expertise and experience. Each teacher has a specialism to maximise the impact of the team.
The teaching team also supports special projects such as work with Opera North, Northern Ballet, Leeds City Art Gallery, Herd Farm and Leeds Rhinos. Two nurseries have recently been nominated for Creative Arts Awards.

Tapestry
We use the TAPESTRY app to share children’s learning with their parents and carers.
What is Tapestry?
“An easy-to-use online learning journal, Tapestry helps educators and parents to record, track and celebrate children’s progress in early years education.“
- Text & images can be easily uploaded via PC or tablet anywhere there’s an online connection.
- Every entry helps to create a complete story of a child’s time at nursery.
- It enables parents to view and comment on these special moments, and to contribute their own stories of the child’s life outside nursery.
You can add your favourite pictures and observations from home to your child’s learning journey which provides a unique souvenir of their early years to keep when they start primary school.
This is a secure system and although it is accessible online, only you and the nursery can see your child’s profile. So you can securely access your child’s profile on line at any time, you will be provided with a secure log in and we ask that you do not share it with anyone else, to keep your child’s information secure.
